When Good Architecture Goes Bad - SPA Cambridge 20th November
I’ll be delivering my favourite talk again at this Wednesday’s SPA Cambridge event.
When Good Architecture Goes Bad - will see me describe the problems that can occur when software architecture ‘as-is’ deviates from architecture ‘as-intended’. I’ll be running the session as a workshop with people working in small groups to share their architectural problems and (hopefully) come up with some examples of how they addressed these.
The event takes place at Microsoft Research Cambridge with a light buffet available from 19:00 and the workshop starting at 19:30. Please preregister here: http://www.bcs-spa.org/cgi-bin/view/SPA/WhenGoodArchitectureGoesBad
I’ve run this session in several variants this year at SPA, ACCU, Embedded Masterclass and Software Architect. Hopefully this variant will generate as much discussion.

On here it says 20th November, whereas on the BCS SPA website it says http://www.bcs-spa.org/cgi-bin/view/SPA/WhenGoodArchitectureGoesBad
Which one should I turn up too?
Hi Jeff,
The SPA Cambridge event is tomorrow (Wednesday 12th) I’ll be talking about Software Architecture as described on the SPA web site and in this post. The event is free and takes place from 19:00 at Microsoft Research Cambridge.
There’s another event on 20th which I’m also running (as Software East) but won’t be speaking (much) at. That’s at Downing College and will have Steven Kelly speaking on ‘Moving from Coding to Model-Driven Development’ and Danilo Beuche on ‘Get Started with Software Product Lines’. They are much better speakers than me so that’s the one I would go to
See http://www.software-east.co.uk/ for more information on that one.
So, if you have time go to both depending on your interests.
Mark
