Code Generation 2008 update #2

Blogged under Code Generation, Product Lines, Software by Mark Dalgarno on Thursday 21 February 2008 at 12:00 pm

Things have been bubbling along w.r.t. June’s Code Generation 2008 event.

The call for speakers was very successful and the programme committee has struggled to reduce the 50 session proposals received to 25 or so but this process is just about complete and we have now started sending out session acceptance / rejection confirmations. The programme is now being finalized with a view to launching next Monday (25th February).

We now also have a full complement of event sponsors with Microsoft, Netfective (Blu Age), MetaCase and NT/e (JeeWiz) rejoining as sponsors from CG2007 and Kennedy Carter and Telelogic joining the line up this time around.

We also have a bigger set of supporting partners than at CG2007 - IASA, ACCU, BCS SPA and Cambridge Wireless are our current partners and we’re working on signing up some others. Members of these organisations get a discount on conference fees. Visit the Code Generation 2008 web site for more details on this.

Administratively its also been a crazily busy time - hence the lack of blog activity; I’m amazed at how many small details have to be put in place for the event - I’ve described it to friends as a gigantic jigsaw puzzle that has to be assembled from a hazy image of what the final picture looks like. Of course this image gets clearer as more details are pinned down but there’s still some work to be done here :-)

As for any project we create a set of learning points as we go along and review them at the end. Last year we had 60 learning points. This year I said to myself that we would have fewer but we are already almost at 60 and there are still 4 months to go until the event! Still, one lives and learns…
